Free Straight Talk Phones Available Online

By

Straight Talk is one of the leading prepaid phones companies around right now. One of the reasons the company is so successful and well known is because it has at very good prepaid unlimited plan (which I will explain in more detail below). Another reason is that there are often free Straight Talk phones available online at the website. This is something that keeps new and old customers happy and is one of the reasons so many new people get Straight Talk phones and come back a second or a third time.

Get a free phone at StraightTalk.com

The way you get the free phone from Straight Talk is by purchasing one month of talk time. So basically, you have to buy a month of service, which you have to do with any of the phones you buy from Straight Talk anyways. But in the case of the phones that are being offered for free, you will basically just be selecting one of the free phones, so you won't have to pay anything additional to the monthly charge. There are two Straight Talk phone plans. Both are prepaid, which means you don't have to sign a contract or get yourself into any kind of commitment that will require the dreaded words TERMINATION FEE.

As I mentioned above, one of the plans is the Unlimited plan and the second plan is called the All You Need plan. The second plan gives you 1,000 minutes of talk, 1,000 text messages (which is about 33 a day), and some good web browsing. The Unlimited plan gives you unlimited everything. For this reason, it is a very popular prepaid plan. You can buy this plan online at the official website, but Straight Talk phones are also sold at Walmart. The free Straight Talk phone deals are available only online, though, so if you're interested in this deal, you will have to find it at the official ST website.

How Do You Get a Free Straight Talk Phone?

As I mentioned above, you will have to go to the official website for Straight Talk, which is StraightTalk.com. Once you are there, navigate over to the "Shop" page, where you will see all of the currently available phones. You will clearly see the phones that are marked with a note that says FREE PHONE OFFER! The writing is usually red, so it's very easy to see. Select one of these phones and proceed to the shopping cart. Next, you will select the phone plan you want to use with your free Straight Talk cell phone.

Either select the Unlimited plan, which costs $45 per month, or the All You Need plan, which costs $30 per month.

Which Straight Talk Plan Do I Choose?

Which Straight Talk plan you choose depends entirely on your personal cell phone needs and desires. Okay, I know "desires" sounds a little bit weird, but it's true. You need to decide what you want to get out of your phone. If you use a lot of talk time and you send a lot of text messages and like to browse the web, you might want the Unlimited plan. If you think you will be fine with 1,000 minutes of talk and the same amount of text messages, then stick with the $30 All You Need plan. Since this is a prepaid plan, you are not stuck with it, and can decide later or upgrade or downgrade. You keep all the control with your StraightTalk phone.

Current Straight Talk Free Phones

I've included a couple of images in this article to show you just what to look for on the Straight Talk website when you're looking for the free phones. They will look just like these images included below.

One note about the free phone you should keep in mind is that the phones offered may be different in different areas of the country. Another thing to know is that these deals change a lot. One day, you might see four free Straight Talk phones and the next day you might only see two. And the ones that are free might be different. Usually, they are the lower end phones, which kind of makes sense. No company is going to give away its really expensive phones because these are the ones they want people to pay for.

Right now, the phones that I see for free in my region (and I figured this out just by going to the website and having a look) are the following models: Motorola w418G (refurbished) and LG 420G.

Reconditioned Phone versus Brand New Phone

You may be wondering why some of the free phones are noted as being "reconditioned." Reconditioned simply means that the phones have been used before but have been cleaned up and repaired to be resold. These phones will generally not cause a problem since only the good quality used Straight Talk phones are put back into circulation. This does matter to some people, which is why I bring it up here. I just want you to know what that means.

Personally, I tend to gravitate toward the new phones. I just always figure that a new phone is going to last longer, and frankly, I sort of just like the idea of getting a brand spanking new phone instead of a refurbished or reconditioned. It's kind of a psychological thing. It shouldn't really matter.

The Straight Talk Motorola w418g you see in the picture above is one of the phones that is often available for free. You will sometimes see reconditioned versions of this phone and sometimes brand new models. It depends on when you look during the year, but generally there is always at least one phone with this offer, so no matter when you visit the site, you will have at least one to choose from.

Straight Talk Android Phones

Straight Talk has a few good Android phones you can decide to use with the Unlimited plan in addition to the other phones they have for sale. Keep in mind that you can only use these phones--and indeed, all the other smart phones--with the unlimited plan. This is not a hindrance, however. It's is actually a very good thing because you are going to want unlimited text, talk, web browsing, email, and 411 (yes, these calls are free and unlimited) with your Android phone. That's what Android phones are for after all, to be used as more than just a phone. In fact, that's why they call them Android "devices." Straight Talk currently has three Android phones that have been approved for sale.

The latest one is LG Optimus Black. It's a solid Android prepaid phone that competes well with most of the other similar prepaid devices out there. With a cost of over $300, the LG Black is a far cry from the free Straight Talk phones on offer right now. And while it's a very nice phone, the Nokia E71 may be more within range of most people. This 3G almost smart phone only costs $99 (it was recently marked down from $129) and at this price, it's a darn good deal. All Straight Talk Androids get shipped to you overnight for free as part of a promotion for the release of Optimus Black. It's just something to keep in mind as you look at all the different phones available.

TracFone Free Phones

In case you did not know, Straight Talk Wireless is owned by TracFone. For this reason, they often have some of the same phones as each other. There are also often some free TracFone phone deals available as well. Usually, these deals are something like buy $20 worth of talk time and get a free phone and Double Minutes Free for Life. They seem to be less simple than the straight up free Straight Talk phones, but there are some good deals to be found. I just thought I would mention it so you could compare and contrast some of the best prepaid deals around. It's always useful to compare so you can be sure to find the best deal possible. Knowledge is power and this is true in the prepaid phone game as much as it is anywhere.
